Discipleship is the word that we use for learning to become more like Jesus. It is not a course, but a lifelong journey in which we discover Jesus, learn more about him, and try to put what we learn into practice in our lives. As disciples we can be a part of the way in which the hope of Jesus can be seen in the world. Discipleship means that our faith is important each and every day, not just when we gather for worship in church. And it is the reason why we as a deanery invest time in helping people to feel resourced for living and ministering where God has called them to be, and why one of our goals in our Deanery Mission Plan is to make every deanery meeting a learning environment/experience so that the deanery can play its part in nurturing ministers, thus resourcing ministry for effective mission.
